As we continue our assessment of the selected projects, our Hope for Venezuelan Refugees team visited the Comedor Fundacion Servidoras Madres para los Abandonados en las Calles. Sisters Blanca Ines Rincón and Ana Victoria coordinate this community center with the support of the Diocesan Food Bank. It currently serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner to about 350 Venezuelan refugees (homeless, elderly & Venezuelans).

With only three volunteers, they serve food in plastic bags and use a system of tickets and numbers. Only 25-30 people eat inside this center at a time. The rest of the people line up for blocks and wait for their turn to eat.

The Hope for Venezuelan Refugees team was integrated by representatives of Rotary e-Club of Houston, Rotary Cúcuta 7288, and the Diócesis de Cúcuta Banco Diocesano de Alimentos. Rotarian Cristal Montanez reporting for Rotary e-Club of Houston, District 5890.
