Assumptions and Risks

Every response to a humanitarian crisis carries a risk and exposure, and this project would be susceptible to the same risks. However, the potential for alleviating hunger and improving the malnutrition condition of the vulnerable Venezuelan refugees far outweighs the possible risks. One factor in our favor is the partnership with organizations that have the community support, such as the Dioceses of Cúcuta, and the Rotary Club of Cúcuta.

The risk and lack of protection, in general, could be caused by disorganized aid distributions which could jeopardize the security of the beneficiaries. By scheduling aid distribution in inadequate open spaces with no trees to protect the people from the sun for long periods of time; by lack of hygiene in facilities where meals are prepared; false expectation when aid distribution is announced; and fear of violence, criminal activity must be considered to mitigate risks.

Therefore, all of the interventions must consider organization and minimum conditions and risks to protect the beneficiaries and the objectives of the project.
