Hope For Venezuelan Refugees Phase 5 - Rosmery Mendoza, coordinator at Centro de Apoyo Mery, daily cooks a big pot of nutritious soup to distribute to the Venezuelan refugees and walkers "caminantes" passing through El Alto de Pamplona to other cities in Colombia or neighboring countries.
It's heartbreaking to hear the same story from many of the refugees I've met as they walk from city to city:
“Many of them say: We are hungry and can no longer survive in a country where food is not available or is too expensive to buy with a monthly salary equivalent to $3.50, which is only enough to buy a kilogram of cheese and a liter of milk.
Therefore, with no money and nowhere to go, we packed our suitcase and backpacks and fled in desperation, leaving behind everything we had worked for.”
We continue working together to alleviate hunger and promote peace.
