Phase 8 Hope For Venezuelan Refugees Project, Nov 2023.- Our Hope For Venezuelan Refugees Project Soup Program at Albergue Vanessa in Pamplona provides access to food as a fundamental human right to thousands of Venezuelan refugees in transit "caminantes."

Fear dissipates in the presence of hunger; hunger is relentless and unyielding. Every day, numerous Venezuelans fleeing hunger and violence imposed by the Nicolás Maduro regimen cross the Colombian border on the way to various Colombian cities and neighboring countries as they search for food and opportunities to improve their lives.

According to the Center for Documentation and Social Analysis of the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers (Cendas-FVM), in April 2023, the basic food basket in Venezuela was $US 526, when the minimum salary barely exceeded $5. In other words, approximately 100 minimum salaries are needed to cover basic expenses.
