Approach and Strategy

The fact remains that food is the most fundamental priority that needs to be address in this humanitarian crisis. The proposed Hope for Venezuelan Refugees pilot project provides an opportunity to help alleviate the need for food. The project aims to decrease hunger and the condition of malnutrition of the Venezuelan refugees, especially women and children, by providing nutritious and fortified RAH meals packs.

This project also aims to increase the capacities of the participating partners already providing nutritious food to the refugees in the region. It is expected that RAH meals will be utilized to help improve the deplorable stage of malnutrition of the vulnerable refugee population.

Overall Objective

Our project aims to help alleviate hunger and improve the condition of malnutrition of more than 3,980 Venezuelan refugees per day by providing Rise Against Hunger (RAH) meals to the existing aid distribution centers that are serving meals to these refugees in the city of Cúcuta.

RAH meals provide 500kcal per person/per meal. The meals are designed to be complemented with other meals for the purposes of nutrition and diversity. 1 bag RAH meals x 3 servings x 500 kcal = 1,500kcal / 3people

Specific Objectives

Specific objective 1: To identify a local network of partners and needed logistic to distribute the RAH meal packs to the target refugee population.

Specific objective 2: To improve the nutrition of 3,980 refugees through provision of RAH meals packs.

Specific objective 3: To create awareness through a comprehensive marketing and communication campaign of the impact RAH meal packs have among the refugee population and local partners/stakeholders.

Expected Results, Indicators, Means of Verifications

Outcomes in meal distribution are quantifiable such as: number of meals distributed, number of organizations preparing and serving meals, number of refugees receiving meals, etc. The major outcome parameters include:
  • Number of refugees identified in the target areas.

Expected results of the project with relevant indicators and Means of Verification (MoVs) are as under:
  • Refugees will receive RAH meals at the designated locations
  • Indicator:Number of refugees receiving meals at the designated locations.
  • Local organizations will store, prepare and serve RAH meals to the refugees. Indicator:Number and names of aid distribution centers serving RAH meals.
