Hope For Venezuelan Refugees Phase 4 COVID-19 Response Impact and Successful Outcome - Thank you for following our project since we initiated our emergency response work in Colombia in August 2018.
We finished implementing Phase 4 of the Hope For Venezuelan Refugees Project in Colombia, and I want to share some images of the impact and outcome of our work in response to the food insecurity in the region.
Our donation of food commodities during Phase 4 of the Project (Oct 2020-March 2021),helped alleviate hunger affecting thousands of Venezuelan migrants. Volunteers at selected food distribution centers cooked and distributed 162,272 hot meals to the refugees, migrants, and walkers “caminantes” on the Cúcuta-Pamplona humanitarian route.
The donation of PPE supplies, portable hand-wash units, disinfectant products, and thousands of face masks helped protect and prevent the propagation of COVID-19 among the volunteers and the refugee population on the Cúcuta- Pamplona route during the largest exodus and migration crisis in the Western Hemisphere aggravated by the global pandemic.
This needed emergency humanitarian response was possible thanks to the support of our partner Rise Against Hunger COVID-19 Response Grant; the facilitation of our Rotary partner in Colombia, the Rotary Club of Cúcuta; the Rotary e-Club of Houston; and an amazing team of committed and dedicated volunteers and allied organizations working together to make the development and success of the project possible.
Special thanks to the Chanhassen Rotary Foundation, and individuals who contributed to the success of this emergency response humanitarian project.
Currently, I am working on Phase 5 of the Hope For Venezuelan Refugees Project. I want to invite you to support our continued efforts to provide Venezuelan refugees, migrants, and walkers "caminantes" with the fundamental human right of access to food.
