Phase 5 of the Hope For Venezuelan Refugees Soup Program - "Caminantes" Flow Summary at Albergue Vanessa. Vanessa and her volunteers cook soup and arepas to distribute to the Venezuelan refugees in transit "caminantes." The volunteers distribute breakfast before the caminantes depart to their next destination and dinner to the refugees arriving after their long journeys. This shelter benefitted from our donation of food commodities every two weeks. Girls and boys 1-18 years old represented 39% of the Venezuelan refugee population in transit "caminantes" through this shelter, while women and men 19-50 years old represented 58%, and women and men over 50 only 3%.
The Hope For Venezuelan Refugees Team, in conjunction with United4Change Center, Rotary Action Group for Refugees, Forced Displacement, and Migration, Rotary Club of Washington Global, Rotary Fellowship for Global Development, are very grateful to the Chanhassen Rotary Foundation/Rotary Club Chanhassen, Venezuelan Association of Massachusetts, and caring individuals for their support of our soup meal program.
