This support enables us to continue providing food to Venezuelan refugees in transit who are fleeing the complex humanitarian crisis in Venezuela.
The political crisis in Venezuela is not just a local issue but one that could significantly impact the entire Latin American region. The recent elections, which saw Nicolás Maduro declared the winner despite the opposition's presentation of documents supporting Edmundo González as the new President-Elect, have raised fears of a potential mass exodus. This situation could replicate the largest migration movement in Latin America's history.
Chile's President Gabriel Boric has even urged preparations for a new wave of Venezuelan migrants and has suggested that Latin American countries agree on "quotas" of migrants they are willing to accept amid the ongoing conflict over the election results.
