Phase 6 Hope for Venezuelan Refugees Soup Program, February 10, 2022 - Food insecurity continues to be the main priority in the Venezuelan-Colombian humanitarian crisis.
Women, men, and children refugees “caminantes” arrive every day at Albergue Vanessa on their way to other destinations. Many have walked for days are hungry and exhausted. Volunteers serve them bowls of nutritious chicken soup, arepas, and a warm cup of raw and unrefined brown sugar drinks.
Together, we are alleviating hunger and building peace!!
According to the Venezuela Regional Crisis – Complex Emergency January 11, 2022, Context in Brief Report,
deteriorating economic and political conditions—characterized by hyperinflation—in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela have decreased households’ access to food, medicine, and livelihoods; contributed to increasing humanitarian needs; and triggered an influx of Venezuelans into countries across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Region, primarily to Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. By November 2021, more than 6 million Venezuelans were living outside of Venezuela, according to R4V, led by IOM and UNHCR.
